Ruby Shuler, age 81, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at her home surrounded by her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Bill Shuler, and her loving mother, Effie Blevins.
Ruby was a faithful member of Grosses Creek Baptist Church for nearly 50 years and was a loyal Sunday School teacher for over 40 of those years. She had a strong faith in Christ and loved her Church and Church Family. She was employed by Harwood Manufacturing for 42 years where she made many great friends and memories.
Ruby is survived by her two loving daughters Diana Doss Marion, VA and Kathy Spencer & husband Dave of Chilhowie, VA. Sisters-in-Law Ruth Harrington & husband Donald of Sugar Grove, VA, Louise Spencer of Washington, and June Shuler of Sugar Grove, VA. She is also survived by four grandchildren Chad Doss & wife Hope, Brandy Anderson & husband Greg, Kelly Spencer-Hill & husband Matthew, and Kayla Roark & husband Robby, all of Chilhowie, VA. Eight great grandchildren Austin Doss, Zac & Shiann Mercer, Robby Roark, Jr. ,Jalynn, Kalynn, and Layne Anderson and Kenley Hill. Special friends include Sue Wolfe, Edna Dowell, Lois Meade, friends of Grosses Creek Baptist Church, and many close neighbors.
The family would like to thank our family and friends at Grosses Creek Baptist Church, Chilhowie Home Nursing Company, and Dr. Wayne Reynolds for all of the love, support, and great care given during this time.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday July 16, 2013 at the Grosses Creek Baptist Church with Pastor George Jesse officiating. Interment will follow in Grosses Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at the Bradley’s Funeral Chapel in Chilhowie. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Grosses Creek Baptist Church, c/o Jackie Blevins, 250 Flatwood Acres Road, Chilhowie, VA, 24319. Bradley’s Funeral Chapel of Chilhowie is serving the Shuler Family.
